1 Seriously Hurt in Midway Fatal Car Accident on 5 Freeway
MIDWAY, WA (May 19, 2020) – Early Saturday morning, a person died while another sustained injuries in a car crash on 5 Freeway near Des Moines.
According to the Washington State Patrol, troopers and medics came to the scene at around 3:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes of 5 Freeway near the Highway 516 interchange.
They responded after reports of a serious single-vehicle crash.
When the responding units arrived, the located a damaged Toyota Scion engulfed in fire in the right shoulder.
The impact of the crash ejected the driver from their vehicle. The authorities declared him dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the rescuers freed the passenger from the wrecked vehicle and were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries. The identity of the persons involved in the crash hasn’t been disclosed by the authority.
Moreover, the preliminary investigation determined that the car was traveling north on 5 Freeway when it started veering off the road. The vehicle then struck the dirt, spun clockwise, and overturned.
Due to collision, the authorities dispatched towing services to the area. The police also blocked the lanes along northbound 5 Freeway while the officers investigate and conduct the cleanup. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
