Motorcyclist Killed, Woman Injured in Lancaster 4-Vehicle Pileup
LANCASTER, CA (May 20, 2019) – A four-vehicle pileup at 15th Street East and Avenue I in Lancaster left a motorcyclist dead and a woman in critical condition, Sunday morning.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said the initial collision occurred around 1:30 a.m. A red pickup truck and a motorcycle collided in the intersection. As a result, the motorcyclist got stuck under the truck. A deputy, together with other people, heard the crash and proceeded to help the motorcyclist.
Another vehicle then approached the intersection and hit a woman who witnessed the crash and was standing over the motorcyclist. Subsequently, that vehicle crashed with two other vehicles.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner has not released his name pending notification of next of kin. Officials said he was a man in his mid-30s and from Lancaster. In the meantime, the woman is in critical condition.
It is currently unclear whether drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash. An investigation is still ongoing.
