27-Year-Old Chico Woman Hospitalized after Accident at Sherman Avenue Intersection
CHICO, CA (May 26, 2018) – A woman was injured in a pedestrian collision on East 5th Avenue, late Saturday night.
According to the Chico Police Department, the accident took place around 11:30 PM at the intersection of East 5th Avenue and Sherman Avenue. A woman was crossing the street when struck by a car.
The 33-year-old male driver from Chico remained at the scene and cooperated with officials. The 27-year-old Chico woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Enloe Medical Center. She was later flown to the Sacramento Hospital for further treatment and evaluation. There is no update on her current condition.
Authorities closed off the area of the incident for several hours following the crash. The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) has taken over the investigation, and is currently looking into the events leading up to the collision. Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be contributing factors at this time.
