Overturned Semi-Truck Blocks Entrance to NB I-15
Victorville, CA (July 23, 2020) – On Wednesday, an overturned semi-truck on NB I-15 off-ramp and D Street blocked the busy lanes to traffic.
Responders to the crash scene were dispatched at around 6:16 AM. The team located a red Volvo semi and trailer upturned in the roadway.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said the accident occurred while the semi-truck was exiting from the freeway. The driver was unable to stop at the red light. He then turned the steering wheel towards eastbound D Street. Due to the speed of the semi, it turned on its side.
The semi-truck driver sustained some cuts and abrasions. He also complained of pain.
The rescue team took him to a local hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the eastbound traffic on D Street is blocked at the I-15. Motorists exiting on the D Street exit would not be able to make a right turn into Apple Valley. They should use Stoddard Wells Road as an alternate detour.
Also, the offramp area of D Street will be closed for some time, as police continue with their investigation. It is also to give way to the authorities to unload the contents of the trailer so the semi can be towed from the roadway.
The roadway is estimated to be closed until approximately 3:00 pm.
No other vehicles or persons were involved in the incident.
As always, it is important to get enough sleep and rest well especially when driving large vehicles. Making yourself ready for this driving situation helps in avoiding similar accidents.
What to Do in Vehicle Crash
Roadways, while scrupulously created and mapped for efficient travel, are one of the most dangerous settings. Yet, it is crucial that everyone remain calm in order to properly handle the immediate aftermath of an automobile collision.
Here are some things that we need to do in case of a vehicle crash.
Before anything else, seek medical attention if you have been hurt.
Then, get to a safe place to prevent further damage or injury.
Also, collect as much information as possible: insurance and contact information of people involved in the accident and pictures/videos of vehicles involved. Do not forget to add documentation of fault, and whatever else that can be used for evidence.
Additionally, file a police report or incident report by calling 911.
