Suspect Arrested after Multiple Car Crash on 5th Street and V Street in Eureka

Eureka, CA (December 30, 2021) – Thursday afternoon, a wanted felon caused multiple crashes at 5th and V Streets and was driving towards officers then fled the scene on foot.

The multiple crash and officer-involved shooting happened at around 2:45 p.m. on December 30.

Preliminary investigation revealed that one passenger in a vehicle sustained injuries during the incident.

Eureka Police Department said in a press release that a multi-agency law enforcement team was working to apprehend a wanted felon near 3rd and T Streets.

During the apprehension, the suspect was in the driver’s seat of a vehicle and began ramming law enforcement vehicles and driving towards officers. An officer-involved shooting (OIS) occurred at this time.

The suspect fled in the vehicle causing a traffic collision at 5th and V Streets, then fled on foot into a greenbelt near 6th and T Streets.

At about 3:20 p.m., the suspect was located hiding in the greenbelt and taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was transported to the hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

Finally at 3:45 p.m. the suspect was arrested.

EPD continues to further investigate the crash.
