Injuries Reported in El Segundo Bicycle Accident on Center Street and Mariposa Avenue
EL SEGUNDO, CA (August 6, 2024) – Sunday afternoon, a person suffered injuries in a startling bicycle crash on Center Street and Mariposa Avenue.
The incident occurred at around 3:00 p.m. on Center Street and Mariposa Avenue.
While El Segundo police managed the crash scene, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department gang and narcotics team were investigating the area. The investigation began around 1:35 p.m. when a deputy attempted to pull over a suspect for an unspecified reason. Instead of stopping, the suspect rammed the deputy’s car and fled.
As they searched the area, deputies discovered a bicyclist in need of first aid. The bicyclist was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The suspect’s car was found nearby, but the driver had fled the scene. El Segundo police will assist in the hit-and-run investigation.
