1 Hospitalized after 3-Vehicle Crash in Hayward
HAYWARD, CA (January 10, 2019) – On Thursday morning, one person was injured in a hit-and-run accident on 880 Freeway. The identity of the victim has not yet been released to the public.
According to the California Highway Patrol the accident occurred around 10:30 AM near Winton Avenue.
As per reports, a black BMW fled the scene after it struck a tanker truck, which caused a grey sedan to roll multiple times and become stuck underneath the tanker. Due to the impact of the crash, it blocked the right two lanes, leaving debris in the roadway.
First responders arrived at the scene and transported the grey sedan driver to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
The surrounding area was closed for cleanup, but since then reopened around 12:15 PM. There has been no further information regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
