Fiery Big Rig Crash in San Pablo Injures Driver
SAN PABLO, CA (September 10, 2019) — A driver sustained minor injuries in a fiery big rig crash on Highway 80 at San Pablo Dam Road Thursday early morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 3:42 a.m. It involved a big rig hauling poultry.
The Contra Costa County Fire crew arrived at the scene at 3:55 a.m. They found the big rig hauling chickens fully engulfed in flames.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
In the meantime, chickens were found everywhere throughout the collision scene. Activists from In Defense of Animals and Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) rescued three of the chickens.
The officials closed westbound Highway 80 in San Pablo during the investigation and clearing operation. The roadway reopened before noon on Thursday.
