1 Hospitalized after Santa Clarita Car Accident
SANTA CLARITA, CA (May 28, 2019) – A person sustained injuries in a car collision on 14 Freeway on May 26.
The crash occurred just before 4:00 a.m. north of Soledad Canyon Road. The collision involved a double tanker and a sedan. The truck spilled hundreds of gallons of gasoline which led to the closure of all lanes for almost 13 hours.
Los Angeles County Fire Department Brain Stevens said that the passenger vehicle’s driver sustained injuries and went to the hospital. Meanwhile, the driver of the truck with the Shell logo didn’t suffer any injury.
According to the Fire Department, medics evaluated five people at the scene. However, they did not require hospitalization.
Stevens revealed that one of the truck’s two tankers rolled over after the crash with a sedan. The tanker carried 4,500 gallons of gasoline. Crews were able to siphon off 700 gallons while 3,800 gallons spilled onto the road.
Authorities administered a traffic rerouting to San Canyon Road. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
