1 Hurt and 1 Detained in San Diego Car Accident on Ocean View Boulevard
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 13, 2019) – A person sustained injuries while authorities detained another after police chase on Ocean View Boulevard.
The police chase on September 12 left rows of parked cars mangled.
The chase stopped near Ocean View Boulevard and 36th Street at around 3:00 a.m. The pursuit stopped when the suspect’s burgundy sedan collided into at least six vehicles.
The crash caused an SUV to land its front driver’s side wheel inside the popped-open trunk of a blue sedan. The two vehicles both sustained major damage along their sides.
Witnesses revealed that the three vehicles involved belonged to the same family.
Fernando Chaica said, “I was sleeping and then I just hear like bangs, like bombs and then ‘boom, boom!’ And I heard somebody yell at someone. I think he said like, ‘stay down’ or ‘stay on the ground.”
Authorities detained one person near the crash site. Meanwhile, responders transported a second person to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It’s still unknown whether police made arrests.
Furthermore, it’s still unclear why and where the pursuit began.
Driving can be very dangerous and almost anything can happen if you are not prepared. It is important to always drive within the posted speed limit. Slow down if you see traffic stalling ahead to avoid hitting other vehicles.
