1 Driver Killed in Four-Car Crash on State Route 7
Spanaway, WA (August 21, 2020) – On Wednesday, a driver died in a four-car crash on State Route 7.
A collision report from Washington State Department of Transportation said the crash took place before 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of 205th Street Center East in Spanaway.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Ryan Burke said it appears a driver traveling north in a Chevy Cobalt crossed the center lane. Then, it went directly into the oncoming traffic and crashed into a Chevy Tahoe. The crash between the two vehicles caused them to spin out and collide with two other vehicles.
The Cobalt driver who caused the accident by swerving into the wrong lanes died in the collision. While none of the other drivers in the three vehicles were severely injured.
Burke said it’s still unidentified why the Cobalt driver drove directly into oncoming traffic.
Meanwhile, athorities reopened the road after two and a half hours of investigation and cleanup. Burke added that this is the fourth tragic crash in his jurisdiction in just about a week.
