Fatal Napavine Train Accident
NAPAVINE, WA (February 17, 2020) – A man died in a train accident on Washington Street on February 13.
According to reports, the man attempted to cross the railroad tracks in front of an oncoming Amtrak train.
Officers and medics came to the scene at the railroad crossing on Washington Street upon receiving reports of a train hitting a pedestrian, Napavine Police Chief Chris Salyers revealed.
The train stopped following the crash and they found the adult male along the tracks. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation also revealed that the railroad crossing arms were down and the crossing lights were on as the southbound Amtrak train came. Two men tried to cross the tracks ahead of the train. The first managed to cross safely. However, the other one got hit by the train.
The Washington Street train crash remains under investigation.
