27-Year-Old Woman Killed in San Bernardino Car Accident near 3rd Street

 
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (March 5, 2020) – Monday evening, a 27-year-old woman died while Rachel Hibbert of Phelan, was arrested after a DUI car accident on Tippecanoe Avenue.
 
Officers arrived to the area of Tippecanoe Avenue and 3rd Street around 6:40 p.m. The involved vehicles were described as a 2018 GMC Sierra and a Kia Soul.
 
According to reports, 36-year-old Hibbert ran a red light in her pickup truck while under the influence. She then fatally struck the Kia.
 
The identity of the victim remains unreleased due to pending family notification.
 
Sheriff’s officials also later revealed that Hibbert traveled north on Tippecanoe Avenue in her GMC when she ran through a red traffic signal at 3rd Street. There, her truck collided with the westbound Kia Soul traveling on 3rd Street.
 
Emergency personnel transported the seriously injured Kia driver to a nearby hospital for further treatment of life threatening injuries. However she was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
 
Meanwhile, Hibbert stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
 
“Hibbert was found to be driving under the influence and was booked at the West Valley Detention Center for (murder),” the sheriff’s department statement revealed.
 
Hibbert was in custody without bail pending her initial court appearance.
