1 Killed and 2 Injured in Ukiah Auto Accident on Highway 101 and Rivino Ranch Road
UKIAH, CA (August 11, 2021) – Saturday morning, a person died after a police chase ended in a crash on Highway 101 and Rivino Ranch Road.
According to California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on Highway 101 at the highway interchange at Rivino Ranch Road.
Reports revealed that the incident started at around 1:35 a.m. when 2017 Volkswagen Beetle run a red light on State Street. Officers attempted to pull over the driver, but she sped away.
Furthermore, officers started a pursuit onto southbound Highway 101 but the driver managed to flee when the suspect vehicle reached speeds of 100 mph.
Moments later, authorities found a crash scene at the highway interchange at Rivino Ranch Road. Officers said that the vehicle collided with the side of an on-ramp while attempting to re-enter the freeway. The suspect’s vehicle struck a tree and rolled over.
Moreover, responders pronounced the front side passenger, a 14-year-old Potter Valley resident, dead at the scene. Paramedics transported the driver, a 15-year-old Redwood Valley resident, and the back seat passenger, a 13-year-old Ukiah girl to Ukiah Hospital.
The incident is under investigation.
