BEAUMONT, CA (January 24, 2019) – A 28-year-old man from Moreno Valley was killed, and a woman was injured, in a wrong-way collision following a police chase in Beaumont late Sunday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, during a pursuit of Beaumont police officers late Sunday night, a tan 1998 Toyota Corolla driven by the man entered the eastbound lanes of Highway 60 the wrong way at Jack Rabbit Trail. He then lost control of the vehicle and struck a blue 2018 Kia Nitro, driven by 37-year-old Mariana Revolorio of Norwalk, at the slow lane.
The crash ended the police chase which started at around 10:35 p.m. Officials said the Toyota was going past 80 miles per hour when the collision occurred.
Emergency services took both the driver and Revolorio to Riverside University Health Systems Medical Hospital right after the collision. The police confirmed that the man was pronounced dead at 12:09 a.m. while Revolorio was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated. It is being determined whether alcohol and/or drugs were contributing factors.
