Deadly El Cajon Car Accident on Washington Avenue
EL CAJON, CA (May 6, 2020) – Tuesday afternoon, an unidentified person was killed in a fiery crash on a construction site on Washington Avenue.
According to reports, an eastbound 2000 Lexus RX350 veered off the road in the 1100 block of East Washington Avenue due to speeding. The incident happened just before 1:30 p.m., the police added.
According to Lt. Jason Taub, a man inside a parked pickup truck witnessed the out-of-control vehicle careening. He managed to jump out of the vehicle and told his nearby co-workers about the incident
“Witnesses reported hearing an explosion and said that multiple vehicles were on fire,” Taub added. “Upon arrival, officers and firefighters found four vehicles engulfed in flames.”
When the authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered the driver who died inside the SUV. His identity remains unreleased as of this writing.
Meanwhile, the paramedics transported one of the laborers to a hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries. The laborer sustained an injury after a flying toolbox hit him in the back.
The circumstances which have led up to the crash are still unclear.
“It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this (accident), and the investigation is ongoing,” Taub revealed.
