SAN DIEGO, CA (August 16, 2021) – Sunday morning, a person died in a DUI crash on Interstate 5 near Las Pulgas Road.

According to California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at around 8:50 a.m. Moreover, it occurred on southbound Interstate 5, north of Las Pulgas Road.

Reports revealed that a 2011 Subaru Outback veered across two lanes. Then, it went to the side of the roadway and crashed down an embankment, Sgt. Michael Morrin said. The crash ejected the 27-year-old passenger from the vehicle during the crash.

Furthermore, responders transported a 22-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man to a hospital with minor injuries. Paramedics later pronounced the 27-year-old male victim dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the driver of the vehicle, a Dana Point resident, required hospitalization. A helicopter transported the driver with critical injuries to the hospital.

Also, the authorities arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI.
