BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 3, 2022) – Wednesday morning, a deadly crash on Highway 46 near Root Avenue involved Jorgelina Garcia.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened at around 6:15 a.m. Moreover, it occurred on Highway 46 near Root Avenue.

Reports revealed that an eastbound Lexus traveled at a high rate of speed. Then, it attempted to pass 44-year-old Jorgelina Garcia driving a Honda SUV in the westbound lanes. However, it collided head-on with a semi-truck carrying hay. The semi then collided with two more vehicles, including 58-year-old Maria Loza de Lopez in a Toyota pick-up truck. Afterward, the Lexus erupted into flames.

Moreover, responders pronounced the Lexus driver dead at the scene. Also, Garcia, Loza de Lopez, and the 50-year-old driver of the semi-truck, Amos Brown suffered no injuries.

Furthermore, the incident closed both directions of Highway 46 but has long since reopened.

Meanwhile, officials said that it is still unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
