1 Killed in San Jose Pedestrian Accident on 680 Freeway and Capitol Avenue
SAN JOSE, CA (May 2, 2022) – Saturday night, a person died in a pedestrian crash on 680 Freeway and Capitol Avenue.
The incident occurred at 6:36 p.m. on 680 Freeway and Capitol Avenue.
After the crash, responders declared one victim dead at the scene. Meanwhile, two drivers involved in the incident stayed at the scene and has been cooperative with officers.
Reports revealed that a 2012 BMW sport utility vehicle traveled north on Capitol Avenue. Then, a male driver he driver had just exited 680 Freeway. As he merged onto northbound Capitol Avenue, he hit a female pedestrian outside a crosswalk.
Then, a second vehicle, a 2020 Honda sports utility vehicle also hit the woman. The Honda exited the freeway behind the BMW.
At this time, the authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
Meanwhile, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identity of the deceased due to pending family notification.
According to San Jose Police Department, the incident marks the 17th pedestrian fatality this year.
