Woman Killed in Carpinteria Accident

 
CARPINTERIA, CA (April 22, 2019) – An Oxnard woman died and five other people suffered injuries after a head-on crash in Carpinteria on Saturday, April 20.
 
According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Kelly Hoover, the crash happened at around 6:30 a.m. on Carpinteria Avenue near Bailard Avenue.
 
A Nissan panel van traveled westbound on Carpinteria Avenue when for undetermined reasons, it crossed over the center line. Then it collided head-on into an eastbound Toyota Sienna minivan, Hoover stated.
 
A Montecito couple with two teenage sons occupied the Toyota. All of them suffered moderate injuries and AMR ambulance rushed them to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
 
The Nissan driver, a 41-year-old Oxnard man, also sustained moderate injuries. Paramedics also transported him to the hospital.
 
The woman who died at the scene was a passenger in the Nissan. Her name was withheld pending notification of her loved ones.
 
Alcohol or drugs is not believed to be a contributing factor in the incident. The collision remains under the investigation of the Sheriff’s Department.
