Fatality and Multiple Injuries Reported in Isleton Head-on Accident
ISLETON, CA (November 20, 2018) – One person was killed and four were injured in a head-on collision on Highway 160 on Thursday, November 15.
According to the California Highway Patrol, five people occupied the two vehicles involved in the collision, which reportedly occurred at around 12:30 p.m.
A 1998 Nissan Altima was traveling southbound driven by a 37-year-old Hayward man and a 1997 Ford Thunderbird moving northbound driven by a 60-year-old Oakley man crashed head-on after the Nissan veered into oncoming traffic for undetermined reasons, crossing double-yellow lines approximately two miles south of Isleton on Highway 160 north of Highway 12, according to the collision report.
The Hayward man died at Kaiser South Sacramento from fatal injuries sustained in the crash. The Ford driver and a 26-year-old Oakland woman in the Nissan each suffered major injuries.
The Oakland woman was rushed to Kaiser Vacaville for her injuries; the Oakley man was taken to North Bay Medical Center. A 36-year-old man riding in the Ford, also from Oakley, was transported to North Bay Medical Center with injuries described as moderate.
The fifth occupant involved was an 8-year-old boy in the Nissan, also of Oakland. He was rushed to UC Davis Medical Center with minor injuries, according to CHP.
An investigation is still ongoing, and it is not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
