1 Killed and 2 Hospitalized in Los Gatos Multi-Vehicle Accident on State Route 17
LOS GATOS, CA (June 6, 2021) – Saturday morning, a person died while two people sustained injuries in a three-vehicle crash on State Route 17.
According to California Highway Patrol, the incident involved a septic pumping truck, a Mercedes Benz, and a pick-up truck. Moreover, it happened at around 8:00 a.m. on State Route 17.
Furthermore, California Highway Patrol, CalFire, CalTrans, Santa Clara County Fire, and Los Gatos Police Department rushed to the scene of the incident.
Reports revealed that the septic pumping truck lost control of its break. As a result, it collided with a concrete barrier.
Moreover, responders confirmed that the pick-up driver died in the crash. Then, paramedics transported the Mercedes driver and the septic truck driver to a hospital with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, Hazmat crews rushed to the scene to clean an unknown substance that was leaking from the septic pumping truck.
Also, the crash led to the closure of the key commuter, tourist route to Santa Cruz, and other coastal communities.
Furthermore, the incident closed both lanes of State Route 17 between Highway 9 and Bear Creek Road. Then, the authorities reopened the northbound lanes at around 9:26 a.m.
