One Killed, Two Hospitalized after Arleta Multi-Vehicle Collision
ARLETA, CA (May 28, 2019) – A multi-vehicle accident in Arleta area left one dead and two injured on early Sunday, May 26.
The California Highway Patrol said that the accident occurred on southbound 5 Freeway near Van Nuys Boulevard.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, first responders transported a total of three people to the hospital. One of them was pronounced dead there. Another patient was in critical condition and the other was in fair condition.
Officers from the Fire Department said that crews had to extricate the patients from at least one vehicle.
The identity of the deceased victim and other parties involved was not immediately available.
The California Highway Patrol closed the road at Van Nuys Boulevard just after 5 a.m. All lanes reopened shortly before 9 a.m., CHP said.
Authorities are still determining the cause and circumstances that lead the collision.
