1 Killed and 1 Injured in San Joaquin County Car Crash on Highway 4
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA (February 17, 2020) – A man died and an 11-year-old boy sustained injuries in a car fatal crash on Highway 4.
The incident first occurred on Highway 4 around 8:00 a.m. when a tractor-trailer traveled west on Highway 4.
Then, the driver drove across the double yellow lines and crashed head-on with an SUV.
“The SUV was pushed off the roadway down an embankment into a field,” Officer Joe Whitlock of CHP’s Tracy Office revealed. “The tractor-trailer continued and side-swiped a Chrysler Town & Country Minivan.”
Reports later showed that the SUV and minivan occupants traveled together.
Responders flew the boy passenger to a nearby hospital with major injuries, while the 35-year-old male SUV driver died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the tractor-trailer driver, 54-year-old Mauricio Solorio Garcia, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Authorities shut down eastbound traffic most of the day, and reopened it around 5 hours later, at 5:20 p.m.
