Woman Critical After 2-Vehicle Crash on West Saticoy Street in Lake Balboa

Lake Balboa, CA (February 20, 2024) – On Tuesday, a man died, and a woman sustained critical injuries in a two-vehicle crash on West Saticoy Street.

At 9:42 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department dispatched paramedics to the 17300 block of West Saticoy Street.

The identity of the man, who died at the scene, was not immediately available.

Paramedics transported the critically injured woman to a hospital, LAFD reported.

The collision involved a car and a pickup truck, with the truck hitting a tree and a commercial building, which damaged a natural gas meter. LAFD crews halted a natural gas leak without any fire outbreak.

Brian Humphrey of the LAFD stated, “The adult male, the pickup truck’s sole occupant, is deceased and remains at the scene.

The critically injured adult female, driving the coupe alone, is receiving treatment at a regional trauma center. No other injuries have been reported.

Despite the morning’s rainy conditions, LAPD Valley Traffic Division investigators will formally determine the crash’s specific cause and any related factors,” Humphrey explained.

SoCalGas crews, along with building and health inspectors, arrived at the scene. The crash damaged a restaurant, necessitating a health inspection, as LAFD noted. “The commercial pest control firm’s pickup that hit the building had its cargo of commercial pesticide containers ejected due to the forceful collision(s).

Accordingly, an LAFD Hazardous Materials Squad is assessing the scene to ensure no pesticide product has spilled,” Humphrey added.

There were no medical complaints or formal evacuations at the scene, and authorities diverted traffic during the investigation.
