1 Hospitalized after Glendale Head-on Crash on Verdugo Road
GLENDALE, CA (October 17, 2019) – A person suffered critical injuries in a head-on crash on Verdugo Road on October 11.
According to reports, the victim rode as a passenger to a southbound vehicle on Verdugo Road near Windsor Road at about 2:05 p.m. As it approached the northbound lane, it crashed with a car with two occupants traveling in the opposite direction.
Sgt. Dan Suttles, a spokesman for the Glendale Police Department stated, “We’re not sure what the outcome is going to be for [the passenger], but it’s bad enough that we’re waiting to see what happens to determine whether or not this will be considered a fatal collision.”
Suttles added that the two vehicles traveled close to the posted 35-mph speed limit. Both traveled at a pace described as “not going extraordinarily fast.”
“However, when it’s a head-on [collision], you’re taking into consideration the speed of both vehicles,” Suttles added. “When you combine those two, it’s definitely classified as a high-speed collision.”
The southbound vehicle driver sustained serious injuries. Suttle revealed that the driver is underaged while the passenger is considered an adult, “but just barely.” They both didn’t wear seat belts during the crash.
However, the two adult occupants of the northbound vehicle sustained only “relatively minor injuries.
