1 Injured in Chico Bicycle Crash on Ninth Street

 
CHICO, CA (July 18, 2020) – Early Friday morning, a person sustained critical injuries after a bicycle accident on Ninth Street.
 
According to reports, the incident occurred at 5:37 a.m. An eastbound vehicle on Ninth Street crashed with a southbound bicyclist on Oroville Avenue.
 
“We’re still investigating the primary collision factor as to who’s at fault,” Chico Police Department Sgt. Todd Lefkowitz stated.
 
As a result of the crash, the bicycle rider suffered critical injuries. Responders transported him to Enloe Medical Center for treatment.
 
Meanwhile, the police do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. However, they are still uncertain whether the bicyclist was impaired. Moreover, the authorities released the vehicle driver.
 
Furthermore, the bicyclist sustained critical injuries and suffered internal bleeding. He is currently at Enloe Medical Center being treated.
 
The responding units in this crash were the police, firefighters, medical personnel, and the Major Accident Investigation Team.
 
After the crash, the authorities shut down eastbound Ninth Street and Broadway. Also, they blocked southbound Eighth Street and Broadway until around noon.
