1 Detained after Bakersfield Car Crash
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 6, 2020) – On Wednesday evening, authorities arrested a man after a DUI car crash on Highway 178.
The CHP revealed that they dispatched officers after receiving a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash on westbound Highway 178 near M Street at around 9:00 p.m.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they discovered that an older model Jeep Grand Cherokee had overturned. The 23-year-old male driver told officers that another vehicle had cut him off while driving westbound on Highway 178.
However, the CHP officers noted that they couldn’t find evidence on the involvement of another vehicle.
Discovery of Intoxication
Officials then administered a breathalyzer test and determined that the driver was intoxicated with a BAC level double the legal limit.
“Yeah, alcohol is definitely a major factor in a lot of these crashes out here. So, just be very careful if out partying and celebrating with friends. Wait a significant amount of time after drinking before you drive, or use a taxi or uber or some other service,” stated CHP Officer Matt Iturriria.
Authorities arrested the driver and who is now facing DUI charges.
Meanwhile, the authorities released the passenger of the vehicle, who did not face any charges.
The collision didn’t cause any injury.
