Injuries Reported in San Diego Traffic Crash on Market Street and Interstate 805 North
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 20, 2024) – Early Tuesday, authorities arrested an alarming auto accident on Market Street and Interstate 805 North.
The incident happened just after 3:00 a.m. as contractors with the California Department of Transportation worked on the Market Street onramp to the northbound Interstate 805 North.
Then, a driver ran a red light, broke through barricades, struck three workers pouring concrete, and crashed into a work trailer.
San Diego Police Department officers witnessed the incident, arrested the driver at the scene, and handed her over to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Video from the scene shows paramedics splinting one man’s leg as others lay injured. According to the CHP, the three Caltrans contractors sustained moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
The driver, a 29-year-old Chula Vista woman, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The CHP is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call (858) 293-6300.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
