26-Year-Old Zuralys Castro Dies in Auto-Pedestrian Crash on South Country Club Road in Tucson

Tucson, AZ (October 23, 2022) – Early Saturday morning, 26-year-old Zuralys Castro died in a crash on South Country Club Road.

The fatal crash in Tucson happened at around 5 a.m. on October 22.

Tucson Police responded to the intersection of South Country Club Road and East Transcon Way for a reported collision involving a pedestrian.

Reportedly, Castro had been walking in the roadway when she was struck by a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Castro died at the crash scene.

Investigators said the victim was not in a crosswalk and there was no street lighting in the area. 

The driver of the Trailblazer stopped immediately after the collision and cooperated. 

Moreover, the driver did not show any signs of impairment. 

Meanwhile, TPD said the mid-block crossing by the victim is considered the major contributing factor in the collision.

Further investigation to determine the other factors of this crash is ongoing.
