Zoraida Rios Died in Fatal Crash on US-95
Winnemucca, NV (August 6, 2020) – On Wednesday, 37-year-old Zoraida Rios of Winnemucca died in a car crash US-95.
The fatal crash happened on August 5 near mile marker 5 in Humboldt County.
Authorities said a preliminary investigation showed a black and silver Dodge Ram 1500 traveling southbound on US-95. At the same time, a white Kia Optima was going northbound on the same road when the Dodge crossed over the centerline.
Officials also said the left front of the Dodge crashed into the left front of the Kia. Then the Dodge flipped over and drove over Kia.
Authorities said the Dodge came to rest on its roof and started a fire, fully burning the truck. It then blocked both the northbound and southbound lanes.
Moreover, Dodge’s male juvenile driver from Winnemucca was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. As a result, he was ejected from the truck. Rescuers rushed him to the hospital.
Meanwhile, authorities declared Kia’s driver, Zoraida Rios dead at the scene.
Officials are still investigating the incident, though, they suspect alcohol to be a factor in the crash.
