Cathedral City Collision Kills 20-Year-Old Motorcyclist
Cathedral City, CA (June 20, 2023) – At about 9:13 p.m. on Sunday, 20-year-old Zachariah Acosta of Cathedral City lost his life in a Date Palm Drive collision.
Officers responded at 9:13 p.m. Sunday to the area of Date Palm Drive and 35th Avenue to a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle, according to the Cathedral City Police Department.
Investigating officers said the motorcyclist, Acosta, was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Date Palm Drive and 35th Avenue when he was hit by a vehicle turning onto the same road from Royal Palms Country Club.
The rescuers immediately arrived at the scene and located Acosta unresponsive with major injuries. Cathedral City Fire Department crews attempted life-saving measures to Acosta but he died at the scene.
Officers declared him dead at 9:27 p.m.
Moreover, the male driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle was not injured and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
