Yojaner Garcia Lazo Killed in US 287 Big Rig Collision [Hardeman County, TX]

Deadly Two-Vehicle Collision Near Goodlett

Hardeman County, TX (March 17, 2023) – On Sunday, Yojaner Garcia Lazo, 32, of Hialeah, FL, Reinier Perz Garcia, 33, of Miami, FL, and Jack Martin Poole, 23, of Lubbock, TX, were killed in a US 287 big rig collision.

Texas DPS officials responded to the scene at around 3:18 a.m. near Goodlett.

Investigating officers said a big rig occupied by Lazo and Garcia was southbound on the freeway, while a pickup truck occupied by Poole was in a center median attempting to make a left turn onto southbound freeway.

The pickup failed to yield the right of way to the big rig and was hit on its passenger side. 

As a result, the pickup rested in the center median on its driver’s side, while the semi came rested in the south ditch on its driver’s side. 

According to Texas DPS, the big rig caught fire and was a total loss, both of its occupants were not able to exit the vehicle. Lazo and Garcia were declared dead at the scene. 

Moreover, the paramedics took Poole to Quanah and airlifted to a Lubbock hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
