Yelina Tarango Dies in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Belmont Street [Las Vegas, NV]

Las Vegas, NV (June 22, 2023) On Tuesday afternoon, 12-year-old Yelina Tarango of Las Vegas died after getting hit in a multi-vehicle crash on Belmont Street.

According to the North Las Vegas police, the fatal accident happened around 3:38 p.m. at the intersection with East Carey Avenue.

Officials say that the driver of a vehicle involved in a multi-vehicle crash lost control and fatally struck Tarango, who was on a sidewalk at the time.

Reports say that the crash involved a 2005 Cadillac Escalade, a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, a white work pickup, and a blue Chevrolet Traverse were involved in the collision.

Authorities say that the Cadillac and Camaro were driving recklessly approaching the intersection. The pickup and the Traverse were stopped at the intersection for the posted 4-way stop signs.

As the pickup was to cross the intersection, the Cadillac failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with the pickup, the impact of the crash caused the Cadillac to hit the Traverse.

The Cadillac then drove onto the sidewalk and consequently hitting the female pedestrian, however, the Cadillac did not stop and fled the scene. The suspect driver and vehicle remains at large.

Meanwhile, the drivers of the Traverse and pickup sustained non-life-threatening injuries, with medics transporting the Traverse driver to a hospital.

Furthermore, North Las Vegas Police Patrol officers arrested the Camaro driver, identified as Alfredo Cabrera Jr., for traffic-related charges.

Authorities are investigating the fatal hit-and-run accident on East Carey Avenue.
