21-Year-Old Ontario Man Identified as Pedestrian Killed in Crash near Hermosa Avenue
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA (October 2, 2018) – A man was killed in a pedestrian crash near Hermosa Avenue, early Tuesday morning. The victim was later identified as 21-year-old Yair Martinez-Garcia, a resident of Ontario.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the incident took place at about 12:24 AM. The man was walking on Fourth Street outside of a crosswalk when he was struck by a truck.
The impact of the collision critically injured Martinez-Garcia, who was later rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff. Meanwhile, the unidentified truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors.
