Azusa, CA (December 7, 2024) On Thursday evening, a tragic crash on SR 39 claimed the life of 8-year-old Xavier Ocegueda of La Puente.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the fatal multi-vehicle crash happened at about 5:10 p.m. on State Route 39 near East Fork Road.

Reports say that around 5:10 p.m., officials responded to the scene and found a gray Honda Accord and a black SUV blocking several lanes. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, while several other individuals were transported to hospitals with unspecified injuries.

Authorities issued a SigAlert, closing State Route 39 for six hours to investigate the crash.
