1 Killed in Phoenix Auto Accident on 71st Avenue and Catalina Drive

 
PHOENIX, AZ (May 16, 2021) – Saturday morning, driver Xavier Cantu died in a hit-and-run crash on 71st Avenue and Catalina Drive.
 
According to Sgt. Andy Williams of the Phoenix Police Department, the incident involved a Ford Explorer and a Cadillac sedan. Moreover, it happened at around 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of 71st Avenue and Catalina Drive.
 
Furthermore, responders transported the driver of the Cadillac, 33-year-old Xavier Cantu to a hospital. However, he later succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, a female passenger of the Cadillac sustained no injuries.
 
Also, officers confirmed that the driver of the Ford fled the scene after the crash.
 
Moreover, authorities said that it is still unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
 
The crash is under investigation.
