Phoenix, AZ (June 13, 2025) – Passengers of the pickup truck sustained injuries in a crash on Loop 303 involving a wrong-way driver, Friday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m., the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) began receiving reports about a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes. 

According to DPS officials, the wrong-way driver collided with a pickup truck carrying multiple passengers. The truck occupants suffered minor injuries in the crash.

After the collision, the adult male driving the wrong-way vehicle lost control and skidded off the road. 

Emergency responders transported him to the hospital with severe head injuries.

Although early reports suggested the driver might have been suicidal, DPS later clarified that was not the case. 

Investigators are currently examining whether impairment contributed to the crash.
