Collision on Interstate 405 Injures Worker, Female Suspect Arrested

Lynnwood, WA (May 28, 2021) – On Wednesday, a 54-year-old state Department of Transportation worker from Snohomish was injured in a suspected DUI collision on Interstate 405.

The accident happened at around 10:05 A.M.

The worker parked a Chevy Silverado, marked with orange-and-white decals of the DOT’s Incident Response Team, in a toll lane south of Canyon Park due to an earlier crash.

It had an illuminated board directing traffic to stay out of the northbound lane. Its emergency lights were also flashing.

Apparently, a 26-year-old Kirkland woman, drove a 2008 Toyota Sienna minivan through the closure and into the carpool lane.

She rear-ended the truck at high speed. The force of the crash demolished the front of the van and partly folded the pickup bed.

As a result, the Snohomish man sustained a severe concussion, soft tissue injuries throughout his body and damage to the nerve bundle of his left shoulder.

Right away, an ambulance took the victim to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Officers said both drivers were wearing seatbelts during the incident.

Meanwhile, rescuers took the Kirkland woman to a hospital by ambulance.

Dealing With DUI Crash

Her injuries were non-fatal. She had a raspy voice along with pinpoint pupils.

The woman admitted to using heroin the past few days. Also, the officers saw a glass pipe and a white powder on the van’s floorboard on the driver’s side.

Additionally, a second glass pipe was located on the suspect at the hospital.

Officers obtained a warrant to have her blood drawn and tested for intoxicants.

Moreover, court records suggest the van was registered to another woman from Sequim.

Finally, the authorities booked the Kirkland woman into the Snohomish County Jail in Everett for investigation of vehicular assault.

Moreover, be a responsible driver all the time. Never drink alcoholic, or take illegal drugs, especially when driving.
