According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened in the parking lot of Shoreline Inn, at about 5:30 PM. A 79-year-old Fresno man was backing into a parking spot when his foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal.

The truck accelerated, hitting two women on a picnic bench. The impact of the collision threw the victims to the ground.
