Pedestrian Fatally Injured in Collision with Dump Truck near Saddleback Ranch Road
LAKE FOREST, CA (July 31, 2018) – A woman was killed Tuesday morning after she was struck by an 18-wheeler truck on Ridgeline Road.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the collision took place at about 8 AM in the area of Ridgeline Road and Saddleback Ranch Road. A Lake Forest woman was hit by a passing dump truck while she was crossing the intersection.
The victim sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Her name was not immediately released. Meanwhile, the driver of the dump truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Affected areas were temporarily shut down most of the day but were later reopened just before 2:30 PM.
An investigation is ongoing to determine who had the right-of-way in the roadway. Several factors were also being explored to identify the cause of the deadly accident. No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
