SAN MARCOS, CA (June 24, 2019) – A woman sustained serious injuries after a pedestrian accident on Grandon Avenue on June 21.
 
Deputies came to the scene around 2:10 p.m. after reports of a pedestrian accident. The crash involved a 74-year-old pedestrian and a vehicle at 1607 Grandon Avenue, Sgt. Nicholas Maryn of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
 
According to a preliminary investigation, a 73-year-old female driver then backed up the vehicle when it hit the victim.
 
Responders transported the victim to a hospital with serious injuries. However, police classified the injuries as non-life threatening.
 
Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene and helped with the investigation. As a result, authorities ruled out drugs or alcohol as a factor in the collision.
 
The sheriff’s San Marcos Traffic Division currently investigates the collision.
