Woman Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 17 [San Jose, CA]

1 Killed and 1 Injured in Wrong-Way Collision near I-280 in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (January 17, 2020) – An unidentified woman was killed and another was hospitalized in a wrong-way crash on Highway 17 early Friday morning.
 
According to reports, a woman was driving a Honda Accord south in the northbound lanes of Highway 17 for unknown reasons. There, she eventually struck another car head-on.
 
First responders arrived near I-280 and immediately located the totaled vehicles. The female driver of the Honda was in her late 20s, and was killed as a result of the impact.
 
Furthermore, the other driver was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. However, there has been no update on their current condition.
 
The surrounding area was closed off while crews worked on preliminary investigation. CHP is currently investigating why the woman was driving the wrong-way, and other details leading up to the collision.
