PLEASANTON, CA (September 3, 2018) – A woman was killed Monday morning following a pedestrian accident on Interstate 680. The identity of the victim was not immediately released, pending notification of next of kin.

According officials with the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 7:30 AM near Interstate 580. A patient was being transported from Valley Care Hospital in Pleasanton to the John George Psychiatric Hospital in San Leandro.

For unknown reasons, the woman got out of her restraints, overpowered a paramedic, and jumped out as the ambulance was coming to a stop on a ramp connecting the two highways.
