1 Dead in Riverside County Pedestrian Accident on Blackwell Avenue
LAKELAND VILLAGE, CA (November 13, 2019) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident on Blackwell Avenue on November 12.
According to Officer Mike Lassig, the fatal incident happened around 4:15 a.m. on Blackwell Avenue and Grand Avenue.
Reports revealed that the female pedestrian tried to cross Grand Avenue, heading west on Blackwell Avenue. However, a 78-year-old Lake Elsinore male driver of a 2005 Mazda 3 drove into the intersection, going northbound on Grand Avenue.
The woman used the crosswalk against a red light while wearing headphones in both ears. The driver did not have the time to stop. As a result, the driver hit the woman.
The Riverside County Fire Department paramedics came to the scene a few minutes later and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver did not suffer any injury. Authorities questioned the driver. However, police did not make an arrest.
The crash remains under investigation.
