37-Year-Old Female Pronounced Dead after 5-Vehicle Accident near Foster Truck Trail in Lakeside
Lakeside, California (March 25, 2020) – Monday morning, a 37-year-old woman from Apline, was killed and three were injured in a multi-car collision on SR 67.
Officers received reports around 7:00 a.m., on State Route 67 near Foster Truck Trail. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
CHP say the series of collisions began when a female driver lost control of her northbound Toyota Yaris on the rain-slicked road.
The car veered sideways into the direction of an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado 3500 that was towing a trailer. The vehicles collided, sending the Silverado into the northbound lanes where it was then struck by a Chevrolet HHR station wagon head-on.
Subsequently, a Toyota Prius and a Chevrolet 1500 traveling behind them eventually struck the damaged vehicles.
CHP later pronounced the Alpine woman dead on scene, due to the extent of her injuries. Meanwhile, the identity of the female victim will remain unidentified due to pending family notification.
Upon arrival, paramedics took the HHR driver to UCSD Medical Center in San Diego for further treatment of major injuries. The other three victims sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
Furthermore, officers say they were all believed to be wearing their seat belts at the time. Additionally, intoxication was not a factor.
The surrounding area on State Route 67 was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened.
Once available, more information regarding the collision will be given.
