BURLINGAME, CA (March 15, 2019) – A woman died in a two-vehicle accident on Golf Course Drive at the 280 Freeway off-ramp Wednesday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly incident happened around 2:30 p.m. on the 280 Freeway near Crystal Springs Golf Course.

According to news reports, a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by a 63-year-old Millbrae man, collided with a 2016 Volkswagen, driven by a 16-year-old girl, and overturned onto its side.

It appears the Hyundai struck the Volkswagen as it traveled east on Golf Course Drive while the Volkswagen turned west onto Golf Course Drive. The Volkswagen struck the right side of the Hyundai, injuring the 63-year-old driver, an 87-year-old woman and an 89-year-old man.

Following the accident, paramedics brought all three Hyundai occupants to Stanford Health Care, where the woman succumbed to her injuries.

A 15-year-old Belmont girl in the Volkswagen and the Redwood City Volkswagen driver escaped the collision uninjured.

Per CHP, impairment is not a factor in the crash but did say that minors licensed for less than a year are prohibited from driving passengers under 20 years old unless accompanied by a licensed driver 25 years or older.
