Woman Killed in Head-On Crash on Westwood Street [Tulare County, CA]

Driver Killed after Two-Vehicle Collision near Avenue 178

 
TULARE COUNTY, CA (June 17, 2019) – A woman lost her life in a head-on crash on Westwood Street, Monday afternoon. Authorities withheld her identity, pending notification of next of kin.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Avenue 178, at about 4:00 PM. A Chevy Silverado veered into the southbound lane and collided with a Toyota Corolla. The collision caused a chain-reaction crash with a southbound Jeep.
 
Emergency responders pronounced the Toyota driver dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the Chevy driver sustained major injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The driver and the occupants of the Jeep suffered minor to moderate injuries and also required hospitalization.
 
According to the Chevy driver, she was falling asleep at the wheel before the crash. An investigation is ongoing to determine other possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
