Driver Dies after SUV Crashes Head-On with Big Rig on Highway 33 in Westley
WESTLEY, CA (January 9, 2020) – A 20-year-old Moreno Valley woman died in a head-on crash Thursday afternoon in Westley.
The crash happened around 12:10 p.m. on Highway 33 at Stanislaus Road.
CHP officials said the woman was driving a Hyundai SUV north on Highway 33 behind a big rig. While attempting to pass the big rig, the woman crossed the broken yellow center line and entered the southbound lane, where she collided head-on with another big rig.
The first big rig was also hit during the collision.
The impact caused fatal injuries to the woman. Arriving units pronounced hear dead at the scene.
The big rig drivers were not injured.
Officials closed the highway for several hours as they cleared the scene.
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
