Female Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near Andale Avenue

LANCASTER, CA (June 23, 2018) – A woman lost her life early Saturday morning following a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on East Avenue J. Her identity was not immediately released to the public.

According to the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station, the deadly collision took place around 12:50 AM near Andale Avenue. The victim was attempting to cross in a dark section of the roadway when an unknown vehicle struck her.

The unidentified woman, described to be in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene by Lancaster Police officials. The driver failed to stop and proceeded to flee from the scene after the crash.

Based on the vehicle debris found at the site, authorities believe that the hit-and-run driver may have been driving a 2001-2017 Mercedes Benz C Class. Investigators are also trying to determine if an incident at a nearby carwash is related to the pedestrian crash. Unfortunately, there are currently no witnesses located to verify these discoveries.

Anyone with relevant information about this incident is encouraged to cooperate with the investigation by calling Lancaster Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit at (661) 948-8466.

We extend our sincerest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this trying time. May she rest in peace.
